Message If you advance the timing (to say about 17 degrees), the car is closer to its threshold...more apt to detonate, but will make more power. Therefore running at 8 degrees (which is WAY less than 15) would allow you to run more boost since it's LESS prone to detonating. Although, I would think the two would offset each other. I'm no expert, but race gas isn't a miracle worker. It just burns slower and therefore is like retarding the timing (which it was in your car). So my guess is that with the timing retarded and race gas, you were able to run 19 psi. Just a thought...I'm wondering if the ECU retarded the timing because it sensed detonation. I'm just throwing stuff out there for ideas...just for the education of it...I guess I'm curious...lol
